FLIGHT ARRIVAL – ADRIA ROUND TRIP

PROGRAM:

Day 1: Arrival to the nearest airport (Ljubljana, Zagreb, Rijeka, Pula, Trieste, Venice). The bus and tour guide will be waiting at the airport holding your group’s nameplate.

You will take up a drive with the bus. Introduction to the karst landscape of Istria on the example of South Slovenian karst area: the Lake of Cirknitz, Spring Cave of Planina. Continuation of the journey to Croatia, to our 4* hotel.

Check in, welcome drink and dinner.

Day 2: Sightseeing Triest in the morning (visiting the sights in the centre and the reminiscences of the Dual Monarchy of Austria-Hungary), followed by a drive along the Riviera Triestina and a visit of Castello di Miramare (Castle of Archduke Maximillian – the Emperor of Mexico - entrance fee included) and the Timavo spring at Duino, return via Nova Gorizza.

Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: The karst plateau in the hinterland of Trieste: Visit to the cave of St. Škocjan with the largest known underground canyon (river Reka), entrance fees are not included in the price / optional /; - Visit of Lipica: former royal stud farm Lipica, home of the Lipizzaner breed (guided sightseeing including entrance fees) - From there, drive to the Adriatic coast. Dinner and overnight in our 4* hotel.

Day 4: Visit to the Slovenian Adriatic towns of Piran and Portoroz; opportunity for a lunch break - small tour in the hinterland (NW Istria, Croatia) with its medieval hill
towns of Motovun and Grožnjan. On the way back to our hotel, we make a short stop at Oklaj in Vižinada, a known lavender oil manufacturer. Dinner and overnight at 4* hotel.

Day 5: Check out of our hotel, drive to southern Istria with a visit to the Euphrasius Basilica in Poreč, ride through the Limfjord, visit to the old town of Rovinj and the
Roman amphitheatre in Pula (entrance fee included). Time for lunch is also planned. Followed by a drive along the coast of Istria, visit to the old town of Labin.
Late afternoon arrival in Lovran, a romantic place on the Riviera of Opatija. Check in and dinner at the 4* hotel on the Opatija Riviera.

Day 6: Eastern Istria with Kvarner Bay. Ferry ride to Cres – eponymous capital of the island. Visit to the unique place Lubenice. Followed by a ferry ride to the island of
Krk. On the island we visit the Roman old town of Krk and drive to the picturesque town of Vrbnik. In the wine cellar a wine / ham / cheese tasting is planned.
Return to our 4* hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Drive over Opatija and Rijeka to Plitvice Lakes, entrance fee included. Visit to the waterfalls and the sinter terraces and pools. Return to 4* hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Checkout after breakfast at about 8:30 clock. Drive across the border to Postojna. Visit to the Postojna Cave at 11.00 clock (entrance fee included). Continuation
of the journey to Ljubljana, Trieste, Zagreb or Rijeka airport. Late afternoon flight home.
