Rijeka & Opatija

Rijeka Opatija
RIJEKA
The capital of the Kvarner region with its beautiful buildings from the Austro-Hungarian period. The monuments of this city are diverse just like its inhabitants. Although it is not unique, the Leaning Tower just like the ancient Roman gate in the vicinity of the pedestrian area "Korzo" are alwaysinteresting to visit. We recommend visiting Rijeka’s open market as well as a part of the city – Trsat, - a famous pilgrimage site that also has a fortress which offers a beautiful panoramic view of the city.

OPATIJA
Is an example of a modern summer resort with its beautiful architectual abundance from the Austro-Hungarian period. The first hotel – hotel Kvarner was built in 1884 in
which year it saw the beginnings of tourism in Opatija.
‘’Lungomare’’ - in Opatija, once known as the F.J. Schuler promenade. Today it bears the name of the Emperor Francis Joseph I. This path stretches from Volosko all the way to Lovran and its length is approximately 12 kilometers.

MOŠĆENICE
Situated approximately 20 km south-west of Opatija and 173m above the sea level. Below the town, on the coast, is a beach of Mošćenička Draga.
In the past, it was a defensive point against the Venetians. Also, the pirates used to control the ‘’Vela Vrata’’ straight from here.
The symbol of this town is the beautiful St. Andrew’s Church, situated in the center. It is important to say that the town’s mayor Mr. Dušan Rubinić personally welcomes each group of tourists and shows them around. He is known for his witty and descriptive tours. Also, he will never forget to invite you to visit the ancient olive mill.
